Should the Bears Pursue Justin Houston in Free Agency?

Per my Boy Adam Schefter the Kansas City Chiefs have released EDGE Justin Houston after failed attempts to trade him. After Patty Mahomes’ breakout year and their ascension into the top tier of elite teams it would be a matter of time before they had to start making tough financial decisions to not screw themselves in the long run. It feels like 5 years ago (because it was) that Justin Houston set the world on fire during the 2014 campaign, terrorizing opposing offenses and collecting 22 Sacks and earning his 1st and only nod at being an All-Pro Linebacker.

I’m a big “Upside” guy and although he has not been as dominant since the 2014 season he has back to back 9 Sack seasons and was a pivotal cog in the Kansas City pass rush that led the NFL in sacks last season. Now that he is a free agent I think it’s time for Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy (History) to get this man into Halas Hall and make him an offer he can’t refuse. I’m not saying to go in there and give him a Max Deal, but you have a solid amount of money available (17 Million) and if you can get him at 5-7 Mil a year and give him the opportunity to wreck havoc on the rest of the league. This feels like it should be a home run. Take the most dominant defense in the NFL and add a guy who likes to sack quarterbacks. Imagine fielding a Pass Rush with Aikeem Hicks, Khalil Mack, and Justin Houston. The Bears defense would get ALL the sacks

Work Your Magic Paced God(father). Make this man a Chicago Bear.

Which leads me back to the original question. Should the Chicago Bear Pursue Justin Houston in Free Agency?

Yes…
